With over 20 years of experience in the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, Etching Factory has gained high acclaim as a manufacturer of stainless steel core guards, which protect the radiator core, the heart of the water-cooled engine. Their newly released model-specific fender eliminator kits feature the unique characteristics of stainless steel brought out using technology passed down through the years since the establishment of the company, which started out as a precision metal processing business.

Etching process to ensure both protection and cooling performance

Although you want the radiator to be hit by as much wind as possible to keep the engine cool, it is also at risk of damage due to bouncing rocks or other foreign objects flying into it while riding. The cooling fins on aluminum radiators, which are currently the mainstream, are extremely thin and can be easily deformed even just by pushing them with your fingers.
Etching Factory is highly regarded in the field of core guards made to protect such delicate radiators. The core guard is installed in front of the radiator, and it is important for it to have the ability to protect the core without significantly reducing cooling efficiency. It would be pointless for it to be impervious to hits from large objects but at the same time reduce airflow to the core, causing the water temperature to rise. In this respect, Etching Factory, which was founded as a precision metalworking company, employs a unique technology called "etching". Etching is a technology that can perform complex processing on thin sheets by making holes using chemicals rather than drills or presses. The greatest feature of this technology is that even with the 0.8mm-thick stainless steel plates used by the company, the end result has very few burrs or warped areas.
In addition to using stainless steel plates, which are stronger than aluminum or wire mesh, Etching Factory adds another twist to their core guards. Looking at the product from the front, you will notice that the size of the honeycomb mesh is different in the center and on the left and right sides. This is the result of feedback from many years of racing activities: the center, which is more likely to be hit by rocks and debris kicked up by the front tire, is designed to provide protection, while the two sides are designed to provide cooling. The ability to change the size of the mesh on a single sheet of material is also made possible by the etching process, and the fact that many teams other than their own also use Etching Factory products is proof of their high level of protection without affecting cooling performance.

Thin but strong! Fender Eliminator Kit featuring the unique characteristics of stainless steel plates

Etching Factory, who have years of experience developing parts for motorcycles with a focus on radiator core guards, began selling LED fender eliminator kits in 2024. As you know, many other parts manufacturers have already released fender eliminator kits designed to modify the styling of stock fenders (including license plate brackets) that extend outward from the raised tail cowl. And though radiator core guards are functional products that can be used in races, and fender eliminator kits for the street lean more toward aesthetic customizing, Etching Factory has put their know-how gained from expertise in processing thin stainless steel sheets to good use in the development of these kits.
The key to developing fender eliminator kits is to achieve both weight reduction and strength. Cracks can be caused by vibration while riding, so both strength and rigidity are essential. The greatest feature of Etching Factory's fender eliminator kits is the thinness of the material (0.8mm). In the case of aluminum and titanium, it is extremely difficult to reduce the thickness to less than 1mm because the thinner the plate, the lower the strength will be. Since Etching Factory's plates are lightweight and thin while maintaining necessary strength, this product is not just a fashion accessory, but also boasts high functionality.
Stylish LED turn signals installed on the base plate for a great dress-up effect

Though the fender eliminator kit has a simple and plain form with no unnecessary decorations, the LED turn signals on the left and right sides of the license plate stand out. When the stock fender is removed, it is often difficult to deal with the rear turn signals that were mounted on the fender. Whether they are a type that attaches to the tail cowl or those that are installed with brackets, thinking of a new location to put them is more trouble than expected.
With this kit, the turn signals are already installed, so it is possible to remove the fender and relocate the turn signals at the same time. The couplers for the turn signals are designed to match the stock wiring of the compatible bike, so it can be installed by simply plugging the couplers in. For models that include a license plate light in the kit, the coupler will also match the stock configuration, so there is no need to connect new wiring with universal connectors.
Easy installation with instructional videos
Etching Factory has prepared installation videos for users who will be doing the installation themselves. There is a video for each individual part, so you can watch the applicable video while looking at the included instruction manual before starting to make the process go much smoother.
Here are the installation videos for the XSR900GP Radiator Core Guard and Fender Eliminator Kit, and the MT09 Fender Eliminator Kit introduced here.

The lineup of LED Fender Eliminator Kits will be further expanded in the future, so riders who already have an Etching Factory radiator core guard on their bike should keep an eye out for new release information.
