Bimota by Kawasaki Shines at Its Home Track in Misano! Alex Lowes Finishes 4th in Race 2 After a DNF in the Superpole Race

Round 4 of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship (SBK), the Pirelli Emilia Romagna Round, was held at the Misano World Circuit, where Alex Lowes put in a strong performance for the local team, bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team.Although he secured third place in Superpole—his best result of the season—he was forced to retire from the Superpole race due to mechanical issues. However, in Race 2, he staged a spectacular comeback to finish in fourth place.

Shining at his home track in Misano! A strong performance in Race 1 after qualifying third in Superpole

Alex Lowes delivered his best Tissot Superpole session of the season at the Misano World Circuit near Rimini, Italy, the team’s home base.He clocked a time of 1 minute 32.00 seconds, securing P3—less than 0.7 seconds behind pole-sitter Niccolò Brega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati)—and earned his first front-row start of the season.

On the opening lap of Race 1, he was initially overtaken by the independent Ducati riders,Jari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) and Lorenzo Baldassari (Team GoEleven), but engaged in a fierce battle with his teammate, Axel Bassani, for fourth place.When Baldassari crashed on Lap 5, Lowes moved up to P4 and Bassani to P5. Later, on Lap 7 at Turn 10, Bassani passed Lowes, and Lowes finished the race in P5.

Despite a disappointing retirement in the Superpole Race, he staged a dramatic comeback to finish 4th in Race 2.

Sunday got off to a strong start for Alex Lowes. In the Tissot Superpole Race, although he dropped positions again early on, he held on to 4th place. However, on the final sector of the 5th lap, his KB998 Rimini experienced a problem, forcing him to pull over to the side of the track.As a result, Lowes retired from the race, while his teammate Bassani finished in 4th place.

Regarding the mechanical issue, Lowes said, “During the Superpole Race, something happened with the bike and I had to pull off the track.I can’t really say what it was, but the SCQ tires felt good and I was riding well, so it was a shame. Since I was in 4th place, it should have been a good springboard for the weekend, but the mechanics did a great job repairing the bike and getting it ready for Race 2,” he said, expressing his gratitude to the team.

Due to his retirement in the Superpole Race, Lowes started Race 2 from P10. However, he made a fantastic start right from the get-go, moving up to 6th place at Turn 1 and climbing to 5th by the middle of the opening lap.He then passed Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) at Turn 14 to secure 4th place.Although he made a mistake on Lap 4 and lost 4th place to Montella, Lowes finished in 4th place after his teammate Bassani, who had been running in 3rd, crashed. He capped off the weekend with a 4th-place finish, his first since Race 2 at Aragon.

Speaking about the final race at Misano, Lowes said, “Race 2 was a positive one. It was a shame I had to retire from the Superpole race, but in Race 2, despite the changing conditions and strong winds, I had a pretty good feeling.I received a track limit warning early on, so I had to be quite cautious in the second half and couldn’t push too hard, but I enjoyed it. Overall, it wasn’t an easy weekend in these hot conditions, but I’d give it an 8 out of 8. I’m ready to grab a beer on the beach!”
