The Tokyo Motorcycle Show 2026 was a great success, and the booth of D.I.D., one of Japan's leading chain manufacturers, exhibited a remarkable new product! The company is now offering an ultra-lightweight, high-rigidity "forged plate" chain that incorporates technology used in GP machines. In addition, the much talked-about "EVA Racing Chain" also has a new product on the market! Let us tell you about it through photos taken at the event.
A new frontier in drive chains! GP Spec Forged "X-Series
Drive chains are generally made by linking plates punched from steel plates. However, in the most prestigious races such as MotoGP, where ultimate strength and weight reduction are required, special chains using the forging method are used. Forged plates are both strong and lightweight, but due to high production costs and other factors, there are currently very few products available for the general public. However, D.I.D. has launched a new line of forged plate chains with "road-ready" specifications! The new "X-Series" chain is a premium model that is positioned as a higher grade than the company's previous top-of-the-line "ZVM-X" model, which was also exhibited as a reference model in 2025, and has finally made it to the market. The ZVM-X's distinctive appearance, with its "X"-shaped plate and elaborately dimpled pins, makes it easy to tell the difference from the regular grade at first glance.
The "Forged Plate" is of course the highlight of this model! [The color variation is also a key point. In addition to gold and silver with high-quality plating treatment, black finish is also available. Available in three sizes (520/525/530), they are suitable for a wide range of mid- to large-displacement motorcycles. This new product is not to be missed by those who are particular about the highest grade of chain, which contributes greatly to the reduction of unsprung weight and is directly related to running specifications. The product is scheduled to go on sale in July 2026!
The plate has a distinctive "X" shaped butchering. It is said to be 5% lighter than a chain of the same specifications.
This year, the yellow and silver "Zero" EVA chain will also be available in new colors!
In the center of the booth sits EVA RACING's special "Eva RT Type Zero CBR 250RR," known for its participation in races in the colors of the "Evangelion" anime. The chain adorning its drive unit is the new color "EVA-00 DRIVE CHAIN" with a yellow plate. The EVA chain series has been collaborating with the Unit 1, Unit 2, and NERV color lineups, and this year, for the first time, the chain features a bright color with special baking paint and silver-plated links. The color of the first theatrical version of the "Ayanami Rei" has been reproduced. The base model is D.I.D's flagship "ZVM-X" model, and the lineup also includes three sizes: 520/525/530. A limited edition collaboration sticker is also included. It is important to note, however, that this model, like the previous collaboration, is limited to a quantity of 1,000 sets. The release is scheduled for July 2026 or later, but we are sure that fans who want to get their hands on one are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the release date! Fans who are eager to get their hands on one should keep their eyes peeled for the announcement of the start of sales.
The well-known "EVA RACING x D.I.D." collaboration machine will appear again this year. This year's collaboration machine is the CBR250RR in the dazzling yellow "Unit Zero" color.
Special paint job and laser engraving on these four must-see items for EVA fan riders, scheduled for release in July or later.
