KTM conducts dynamometer testing of its new 850cc engine in anticipation of a new era of MotoGP in 2027. 10 years after its entry in MotoGP, KTM has taken an important step forward.
KTM Factory Racing Starts Future MotoGP™ Engines
Almost ten years after Red Bull KTM took its first steps into the fiercely competitive world of MotoGP, the company has reached another milestone. In anticipation of the series' future technical regulations, the first dynamometer tests of the 850cc engine concept for 2027 were recently conducted at the company's Austrian headquarters. Noise, excitement, and potential - the cries of Red Bull KTM's competitive drive rang out loud and clear from the manufacturer's base, as the motorsports engineering team gathered at the engine dynamometer facility in Mattighofen, together with CEO Gottfried Neumeister, to test the 850cc MotoGP engine's first power curve output. Prepared to run on 100% non-fossil fuel according to the 2027 rulebook, the engine is being performance validated during the testing and development phase for the upcoming new era of MotoGP. Since its wild-card entry in the 2016 Valencia round, Red Bull KTM has achieved victories, podium finishes by six different riders, and a successful partnership with the Red Bull KTM Tech 3 team, building brand awareness and reputation on a global scale. MotoGP is the cornerstone of KTM's factory racing program. Commenting on the new engine, KTM Motorsports Director Pit Byler said, "We are very pleased to start the future MotoGP engine as early as September 2025. We are on a perfect time schedule and will soon be able to get the car running, and we have put everything we have learned during our years in MotoGP into this engine.
