Yamaha Motor Sales Co., Ltd. has announced that five models in the "YZF-R Series" supersport model lineup will be available in the "70th Anniversary Edition" to commemorate Yamaha Motor's 70th anniversary and will go on sale sequentially from January 30, 2026.

The "70th Anniversary Edition" of the YZF-R series, which was announced for Europe and North America last fall, will also be available for the Japanese market. The lineup for the Japanese market includes the YZF-R1, YZF-R9, YZF-R7, YZF-R3, and YZF-R25, as well as the off-road models YZ250F and YZ125, for which reservations will cease on July 31, 2025. The "70th Anniversary Edition" will therefore be available on a total of seven models. The "70th Anniversary Edition" represents Yamaha Motor's history of racing since its founding in 1955. The coloring of the "70th Anniversary Edition" is inspired by the "red line on white" cowl of the "RD56," Yamaha's first 250cc World Champion machine in 1964. The new model also features special equipment befitting a commemorative model. In addition, as special equipment befitting a commemorative model, the top of the tank, which is visible when riding, bears the 70th anniversary emblem, and on the side of the tank is the gold Yamaha tuning fork emblem, which evokes the atmosphere of a factory team. These special designs merge with the refined R Series design to create a special style.

The YZF-R7 will be introduced in the new 2026 model year!
The YZF-R1 70th Anniversary Edition ABS and YZF-R9 70th Anniversary Edition ABS are priced at 2,640,000 yen and 1,595,000 yen, respectively, and limited to 200 units each. The release date will be January 30. The YZF-R3 70th Anniversary Edition ABS is limited to 200 units at 740,800 yen, and the YZF-R25 70th Anniversary Edition ABS is limited to 400 units at 712,800 yen. These two models are scheduled to go on sale on February 27. The YZF-R7 70th Anniversary Edition and YZF-R7, as well as the YZF-R3 and YZF-R25 standard color 2026 models, are scheduled to be released and available after spring 2026.
The 70th Anniversary Edition is based on the domestic-spec YZF-R1, which will continue to be sold for the 2026 model year.
The "70th Anniversary Edition" is likely to be a hotly contested model, as the "YZF-R1" has been difficult to obtain even for the 2025 model year.
