Active Releases DR-Z400SM Custom "MOTARD STYLE with TYPE-X" Equipment Details! Ultra-Light Motard with Forged Aluminum Wheels

Active has released details of its 2026 custom model for the DR-Z4SM, the "MOTARD STYLE with TYPE-X." Centered around Gale Speed's "TYPE-X" wheels, this proposal is for a ride-focused motard style that allows riders to attack circuits with hang-offs. The exterior (Champion Yellow) of the DR-Z4S is adopted, drawing inspiration from SUZUKI's racing image.

Active's "DR-Z4SM MOTARD STYLE with TYPE-X" was exhibited at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show. It features the "S" model's yellow exterior.

GALE SPEED TYPE-X Forged Aluminum Wheels

Gale Speed's "TYPE-X" forged aluminum wheels are designed differently for each category, such as motard and cross-country. While reinforcing the rim flange, the spokes and rim components have been adjusted for overall weight reduction. This achieves light and sharp handling, with excellent maneuverability particularly during direction changes.

Caliper Support (Designed for TYPE-X Wheels)

The front is converted from axial to radial mount with a 100mm pitch, increasing the disc diameter to φ320. For the rear, the caliper is designed to be closer to the swingarm to ensure minimum ground clearance.

This rear shock absorber unit utilizes Hyperpro's proprietary "Constant Rising Rate" spring, which is soft initially to absorb impacts and stiffens under high load. Its silky smooth ride fully utilizes the performance generated by the variable pitch.
