The World Superbike Championship (WorldSBK) has announced that it will exclusively use Brembo’s carbon-ceramic brake material, “Hyction™,” starting with the 2027 season. This marks the beginning of a new technological chapter in production-based motorcycle racing.
Deepening the Technical Partnership with Brembo
Brembo was selected as the championship’s Official Innovation Partner earlier this year, and the introduction of Hyction™ technology marks the next step in this collaboration. WorldSBK has become the exclusive platform for the debut of this new material in motorcycle competition.
Starting in 2027, Brembo will become the exclusive brake system supplier for the WorldSBK class. This is based on the company’s longstanding presence in the paddock, where many teams already place their trust in Brembo’s technology. This change symbolizes an evolution in the championship’s braking philosophy and reflects the direction of modern production motorcycles as well as the broader evolution of the motorcycle industry.
Performance and Sustainability Delivered by Hyction™ Technology
Gregorio Labilla, Executive Director of WorldSBK, stated, “WorldSBK represents the closest link between racing and the machines used by enthusiasts around the world.By expanding our collaboration with Brembo into this new technical chapter, we are strengthening the championship’s relevance as a platform where innovations developed in competition contribute to the future of production motorcycles,” said Gregorio Labilla, Executive Director of WorldSBK.
Mauro Piccoli, Chief Marketing Officer at Brembo, said, “With Hyction™, riders will be introduced to technology designed to provide a more direct and predictable relationship with braking.“Becoming the exclusive supplier starting in 2027 means we will play an active role in the championship’s technical evolution and help define its new standards. WorldSBK is our ideal testing ground,” he added.
The steel-based solutions currently used in WorldSBK are optimized for different specifications depending on circuit characteristics and operating conditions. The latest Hyction™ material is designed to provide greater consistency, thermal stability, and durability across the wide range of conditions encountered throughout the WorldSBK season.Furthermore, Hyction™ technology reflects a broad focus on operational efficiency and long-term sustainability, improving component lifespan and overall system optimization while reducing the need for multiple specifications.
