MotoGP has signed a new agreement with the Aragon Regional Government and officially announced that the 2027 season Grand Prix will be held at Motorland Aragon. It has been decided that the circuit will serve as a reserve venue from 2028 through 2031.
Confirmation of the 2027 Season and Designation as a Reserve Circuit
Motorland Aragón has been confirmed as the venue for the Aragon Grand Prix in 2027 following the signing of a new contract between the Aragon Regional Government and MotoGP. This contract renewal was officially announced at an event held in Zaragoza on June 10.
The renewal of the hosting rights for the 2027 GP means the circuit will remain part of the MotoGP structure as an official reserve circuit from 2028 through 2031.
Contribution to the Local Economy and Future Prospects
MotoGP CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta commented, “Motorland Aragón has been a key partner for MotoGP for nearly 20 years and has played a central role in the Championship’s presence in Spain. The 2027 renewal reflects both the strength of this partnership and the value this event brings to the region. We look forward to continuing to work together and are delighted that Aragon will remain part of the MotoGP family as a reserve circuit."
Hosting the Aragon GP represents an investment of 12 million euros and generates significant economic benefits for the region. Motorland Aragon generates approximately 50 million euros in direct and indirect economic impact annually, with about half of that directly related to the MotoGP Grand Prix.More than 110,000 fans attend the GP weekend each year, many of whom come from both within and outside Spain. This event is an excellent opportunity to showcase Aragon, and the race weekend brings significant business opportunities to hotels, restaurants, and local businesses, which are often fully booked.
Jorge Ascon, President of the Aragon Regional Government, said,“I am delighted that we have confirmed the Aragon GP for next year. In 2027, motorcycles will once again race around the Alcaniz circuit. Motorland will maintain its connection with MotoGP as a reserve venue from 2028 to 2031.”
With MotoGP returning to Motorland Aragón in 2027, fans will once again be able to experience world-class racing at one of the most technically demanding and spectacular venues on the championship calendar.
