■The 12K model. The carbon pattern is clearly different.

WINS, a manufacturer of reasonably priced and extremely lightweight carbon helmets, had samples of their ultra-light model, A-FORCE RR, which is scheduled to obtain official MFJ certification, on display. It is a dry carbon model using prepreg sheets. The 3K model, composed of 3,000 carbon fibers, and the 12K model, composed of 12,000 carbon fibers, were exhibited.

The company president, Mr. Kataoka, who is also a racer himself, spearheaded the development of this model, which is actually their first MFJ-approved racing model to be released in 12 years. It is a full-face type with high strength and light weight due to the use of dry carbon, which is a WINS speciality.

The incredibly light weight was quite the surprise. We actually weighed it at the booth and found it to be only 1.35kg. In addition to being quite light for a full-face model, the fact that it is also scheduled to be officially certified by the MFJ for racing is amazing.

■It weighs only 1.35kg! It will probably be one of the lightest full-face models on the market.

These helmets were exhibited as samples, and the specific price and release date have not yet been determined. But they will surely be released at a reasonable price for carbon helmets. We look forward to further news from WINS.
