Hello to all Webike Plus readers! I'm Sasu Rider, a guy who basically doesn't participate in motorcycle events, but for some reason has experience participating in SSTR. The SSTR is a major motorcycle rally event that aims at the "Senrihama Nagisa Driveway in Ishikawa Prefecture," which no longer needs any explanation. ... So, without further ado, let me introduce you to the touring roads and spots in Ishikawa Prefecture that I, as someone who has already circled Japan twice, can confidently recommend. 1 Goal of SSTR: Senrihama Nagisa Driveway

The Senrihama Nagisa Driveway is the main venue and glorious finish line of the SSTR, now Japan's leading motorcycle event. It is a rare road in the world where off-road bikes as well as on-road bikes can ride on a hard and tight sandy beach, and it is not a road based on so-called "tacit understanding," but a "normal road (free of charge)" with proper road signs and information boards. Of course, there are many days when it is not possible to ride the road due to high waves or weather conditions... But even so, the extraordinary feeling you get from riding a motorcycle here is addictive!

At the south entrance of Senrihama Nagisa Driveway, there is a monument of SSTR, which is a great photo spot for riders! And on the north side, the official SSTR "SSTR CAFE " is also located, which is naturally a popular stopping spot for riders. In other words, the Senrihama Nagisa Driveway has all of the riders' three favorite things: a good road, a photo spot where you can include your car, and a riders' cafe (there is no reason not to go there).

2 Furthest spot: Rukuizaki

The furthest spot that any rider would unconditionally want to visit! Ishikawa Prefecture's version of this is Rokkouzaki. Rokkozaki is located at the northernmost tip of the Noto Peninsula, where the Senrihama Nagisa Driveway mentioned above is located. It is a place with a sense of being the most northerly point in a good sense of the word! Basically, visitors are not allowed to enter the lighthouse, but it is open to the public several times a year.

There is a signboard at Rokugozaki that says "100km to 00km," a favorite of touring riders who love to travel, and it is not a very far place, but rather just the right distance! The distance is not so far, but the distance is selected to be just right.... Incidentally, there is a " Roadside Station Wolfsbane " at the entrance to Rukugozaki, where you can safely park your bike, use the restroom, and have a bite to eat.

3 Sightseeing Spots: Mitsukejima (Gunkanjima)

Mitsukejima (見附島) is an island that has an unrealistically strong impact as if it were drawn by a generative AI. It is said that Kobo-Daishi Kukai discovered this island when he crossed from Sado to Noto for missionary work (there are various theories) . At night, the island is lit up, creating a fantastic atmosphere!

Mitsuke Island is located in a park by the sea with a nice atmosphere, and there are free parking lots where you can leave your bike and public toilets in the vicinity. In fact, it is also famous as a "holy place for lovers" named "Enmusubiuchi," and for solo touring, you can enjoy the melancholy while watching couples ring the marriage bell in a friendly manner... 4 Sightseeing Spots: Shirome Senmaida

One of the most famous terraced rice paddies in Japan is "Shirome Senmaida," a series of 1,004 rice paddies on a hill facing the Sea of Japan. Designated as one of the 100 best terraced rice paddies in Japan and a national cultural asset and place of scenic beauty, it is one of Ishikawa Prefecture's representative tourist attractions, where visitors can enjoy traditional Japanese scenery that is like a "tale from long ago in Japan! Incidentally, an illumination event of terraced rice paddies called " Azenokirimeki " is held every year from mid-October to mid-March of the following year, which is also worth a visit.

Previously, Shirome Senmaida was a simple sightseeing spot with only a parking lot and public restrooms... Now it is converted into a roadside station as " Senmaida Pocket Park "! It has been transformed into a relaxing sightseeing spot with a 24-hour free parking lot, public restrooms, and a store that is known for its delicious rice balls (currently open only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays).

5 Sightseeing spot: The world's longest bench

Many riders will probably be surprised! No way, Ishikawa Prefecture has the "world's longest bench" on the Noto Peninsula! It is located overlooking Masuhogaura Beach, which is famous for "Sakuragai," a shellfish that is said to bring happiness! It is an ultra-long bench with a total length of 460.9 meters, which was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the "world's longest bench" in 1989. In other words, it is truly the "world's longest bench" in the truest sense of the word, so this is a spot you should definitely stop by for a touring story.

The world's longest bench is located within walking distance from " Michi-no-eki Togikai Kaido" (Michi-no-eki: Togi Sea Road), and the Michi-no-eki effectively serves as the entrance and parking lot. Moreover, the roadside station sells "Baron soft-serve ice cream, " which is sweetened by sprinkling coarse salt on it, another great touring story, so this is also a place where riders can fulfill their obligations!

6 Sightseeing Spots: Kenrokuen Garden

Along with Kairakuen Garden in Ibaraki Prefecture and Korakuen Garden in Okayama Prefecture, Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, is one of the "Three Japanese Gardens. This beautiful kaiyu-style garden symbolizes the prosperity of Kaga Hyakumangoku, and Japanese people are sure to feel something touching in the garden! Incidentally, the admission fee to Kenrokuen Garden is a reasonable 320 yen per adult, and motorcycles can be parked free of charge in the motorcycle-only space at the "Kenrokuen Shimo Tentative Bicycle Parking Lot" within walking distance.

Personally, if you go all the way to Kenrokuen, I recommend enjoying an elegant tea time at " Shiguretei " on the premises! You can enjoy matcha or sencha green tea and wagashi (Japanese sweets) while gazing at the magnificent Japanese garden spread out before you. The price for matcha is 800 yen and includes Shiguretei's original Japanese sweets, while the price for sencha is 340 yen and includes Japanese sweets.

7 Roadside Station: Squid Station Tsukumor

The roadside station "Ika no Eki Tsukumor" is very popular on SNS for its very realistic and huge squid monument, known as "Ika King. As the name suggests, the roadside station is a place where you can enjoy various marine activities such as sea kayaking, SUP, and diving, as well as stores and restaurants focusing on squid. ... But..! Even if you don't plan to do anything here, it is worth visiting just to take a picture of the Squid King (it looks great anyway).

Inside the Squid Station Tsukumor, there is a restaurant where you can taste seafood dishes made from squid, a corner selling processed squid products, and an exhibition corner about squid fishing, all of which focus on squid! In particular, the "flavored squid rice bowl" available at the restaurant is the most delicious, and we recommend that you try it when you come here.

8 Onsen (hot spring): Wakura Onsen So-yu

Soyu is the central one-day bathing facility in the historic Wakura Onsen Hot Spring, which has been in operation for 1,200 years. So-yu is a modern and magnificent building that sets itself apart from other public bathhouses in the hot spring resort area, and it is a genuine "local hot spring" operated by a company organized by the residents of Wakura Town! The bathing fee is a reasonable 500 yen, and shampoo and body soap are also provided.

There is a footbath in front of the so-yu that anyone can enter for free, which is also magnificent and of such high quality that it is a shame that it is free of charge! Moreover, there is even a "drinkable onsen" (onsen that you can drink from)... Unfortunately, riders who do not have time to soak in the hot spring but want to literally "taste Wakura Onsen" can go to So-yu anyway.

9 Local Gourmet: Gogo Curry Kanazawa Main Store

Gogo Curry is the curry chain restaurant that sparked the "Kanazawa Curry," now recognized as one of the giant forces in the Japanese curry world. The main Gogo Curry restaurant is located in Kanazawa, the city where the company was founded, so it is only logical for touring riders to visit the main restaurant when they come to Ishikawa Prefecture! Even if there is a Gogo Curry restaurant in your daily life, it is completely different to eat at the main restaurant in Kanazawa (there is not even a shadow of Gogo Curry in my daily life area...).

Kanazawa Curry is a curry that meets all of the following requirements: it has a thick and thick curry roux, shredded cabbage, is served on a stainless steel plate, is eaten with a fork or a broken spoon, and has a cutlet on top of the roux with sauce on top. 10 Local Gourmet: Uogashi Shokudo

When you come to Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture on a touring trip, "I want to eat a delicious seafood bowl at Omimachi Market! Everyone thinks "I want to have a delicious seafood bowl at Omi-machi Market"... That's true, but... But it will surely be affected by the "high price and congestion" caused by the recent explosion of inbound tourism... However..! If you go to "Uogashi Shokudo", which is located a little far from Omimachi Market and is frequented not by inbound tourists but by locals, you can get reasonably priced and overpriced kaisendon! Most of the menu items are under 2,000 yen, fresh and hearty, and I would definitely recommend this place over Omimachi Market.

One point of advice from a Sasu rider

The menu at Uogashi Shokudo is basically a good one, and I think I had the kaisendon in the photo for about 1,500 yen (a steal for a kaisendon in the Hokuriku area) ! One drawback is that there are no conspicuous bicycle parking lots in the vicinity, but the smartest solution is to "stay at an inn in Kanazawa where you can park your bike and walk there".

Ishikawa Prefecture is not only home to the SSTR!

Sure, SSTR is a fascinating motorcycle event... However! It is a waste of time to go to Ishikawa Prefecture just for that, or just for that occasion! Because Ishikawa Prefecture is dotted with attractive spots that you should visit by bike even without the SSTR.
