Naps Sports's HAYABUSA

A private brand named "Naps Sports" was introduced by the major supply chain, Naps, in October 2022. The first product announced was a full dry carbon body kit designed for the current (3rd generation) Hayabusa. "When customizing a high-quality model like the Hayabusa, its stock quality and presence tend to be compromised by standard modifications. To address this issue, Naps launched the brand "Naps Sports" and developed a full cowl kit using dry carbon, aiming to enhance quality while preserving the original excellence and silhouette," says Mr. Matsukura of the Naps Strategic Business Department. Naps Sports is a new brand that offers premium parts beyond just being custom parts. The first product from this brand for the Hayabusa is a "dry carbon" cowl, known as the king of all carbon cowls. Employed in the world's most prestigious racing scenes such as MotoGP and F1, it's handmade, expensive, and not easy to manufacture and mass-produce. "Unlike typical resin parts, we don't create female and male molds based on the object, followed by laminating and adhering resin. Instead, we utilize 3D scanning of the object and modify CAD data to craft the product. In order to maintain mold data precision and ensure quality, we limit the production to 30 kits," explains Matsukura. While you might think it's just a scan, the time and effort required to obtain 3D data are several times longer than producing standard resin parts. Nevertheless, this approach facilitates shape adjustments and results in precise part alignment. While any shape could be manufactured, they chose to honor the Hayabusa's stock style.

"The data showed the high-quality craftsmanship of the stock exterior parts. As a result, the kit represents the Hayabusa in its entirety, but if you look closer, the small details are original in design." The development of the full dry carbon body kit for the Hayabusa took a considerable amount of time, and Mr. Matsukura himself conducted the actual running tests. "For sales, customers bring in their bikes, and Naps assembles the kit and hands it to the customer. We are planning to produce complete models only for the few bikes that we can secure." Every aspect, from the materials to the manufacturing process and final products, reflects a premium standard. "The Hayabusa requires such parts to enhance its stock presence. We are confident that there are customers who will appreciate this premium craftsmanship. That's our hope for this product." As of June 1, 2023, a limited number of four complete models based on the '23 model are available. Beyond just reducing weight by 4kg compared to stock, this offers an exceptionally remarkable customized appearance. Following the Hayabusa, Naps Sports plans to develop kits for other models in the near future. Bodyworks

The "Hayabusa" logo, which is decaled in the stock version, is reproduced in a concave embossed three-dimensional design that is integrally molded into the cowl side, with its position and size largely unchanged.

The air duct louvers on the side cowl are also molded as an integral part. At first glance, they appear as natural as the stock version, but the concept of "it would be even cooler if it were designed like this" was also incorporated into the design.

Staying faithful to the stock shape, a design decision was made with slight modifications. Considering that dry carbon can have the same strength as the stock material, the shape remains unchanged while the components can be designed to be thinner. This allowed for strengthening the upper cowl and its mounting method to enhance its durability during rides. The accent color parts around the headlight utilize stock materials (in this case, candy burnt gold).

The functional component, the fuel tank section, follows the stock shape. The front side involves replacing the cover (housing an air cleaner box internally), while the rear side extends from the separation line, covering the fuel tank as is.

The front fender retains the same shape as the stock version to ensure the strength, rigidity, and aerodynamic characteristics are uncompromised. This design choice also respects Suzuki's genuine safety standards. Naturally, the mounting method is the same bolt-on style as well.

The tail cowl has been further modified to enhance its stylish and elegant appearance while staying true to the stock shape. The divided section where accent color parts are present in the stock version has been seamlessly integrated. In the case of the genuine accessory single seat cowl, the "Hayabusa" logo located on the seat pad's front face is replaced with the Naps Sports logo.

The "NAPS SPORTS SUZUKI Hayabusa 2021 MODEL NSMP-01 Full Dry Carbon Body KIT / Matte clear (matte finish)" with the same dry carbon body and matte clear paint costs 2,178,000 yen including tax. The complete model (pictured above) is priced at 4,478,000 yen (including tax). The matte clear paint is designed to be able to ride on public roads. The unpainted "NAPS SPORTS SUZUKI Hayabusa 2021 MODEL NSMP-01 Full Dry Carbon Body KIT / Unpainted" is 1,980,000 yen including tax. All of these prices include the body KIT installation fee and the initial inspection fee.
