Glistening with Possibility: KAWASAKI Z900RS Custom by ARCHI

ARCHI's Z900RS

True to its name, the "Red Jewel", this Z900RS demo bike by ARCHI, PMC's brand for current bike models, is a machine that attracts the attention of all who lay their eyes on it. It was truly like a jewel on display when it was unveiled at the PMC booth at the March 2022 Tokyo Motorcycle Show. ARCHI spares no effort in creating demo bikes to show off their new parts, and the Red Jewel does just that.

The coloring motif is based on the original pattern of the air-cooled Z. The Z1B, which was introduced in 1975, came out in two colors: Candy Super Blue and Candy Super Red, and 47 years later, the Z900RS, which pays homage to the Z, adopted the Candy Super Blue coloring for the 2022 model. So, this bike is ARCHI's take on what a Candy Super Red version, which they expected to come out as a stock color eventually, might look like. With the vivid Candy tone as a base, the ARCHI logo and Kawasaki river mark are used as accents. The carbon fiber parts are also painted in a Candy tone gradation to show a new kind of dress-up possibility.

Along with the coloring, another main focus for this demo bike is the Billet Honeycomb series parts, which are some of ARCHI's most recommended. They hope that by showing the unique machined honeycomb pattern and shape of these parts installed, riders will notice the great compatibility with the Z900RS. This can be particularly seen in the subframe and steps. In addition, the presence of the ARCHI logo, which is sculpted into plugs attached to the frame and engine cover, can also be felt. Of course, the ARCHI original exterior parts such as the Gills Cowl, Chin Spoiler, and Long Tail Cowl, along with the aforementioned paint job, are also good examples of Z900RS customization ideas. In other words, underneath its glittering appearance, the Red Jewel is a straightforward demo bike made to show off the brand's parts.

Handle

It is equipped with a Gills Cowl which has a sharper and more stylish form than the stock Z900RS CAFE one. The handlebar is an ARCHI Stainless Steel SUPER BIKE, and the meters are fitted with an ARCHI Carbon Meter Upper Cover. The machined Stem Top Cover is also by ARCHI.

Bodyworks

The tank is fully painted using fluorescent color on the center line of the tank side and a gradation of orange to green (also used in the emblem) to orange to make a big impression. The "Red Jewel" color is expressed with a glossy Candy Tone Red.

The radiator cap (bottom center of photo), which is installed on the upper right side of the radiator core, is machined from aluminum like other ARCHI caps and plugs. The three-dimensional ARCHI logo also adds an accent to the overall look of the bike. A set of radiator side rods is also installed next to the radiator.

The tail cowl is the ARCHI Long Tail Cowl. The shape, which is slightly curved up and extends the tail by 60mm, adds both a sleek and bold appearance to the bike. The edges are ribbed to give it a luxurious look, and the overall balance of the body is maintained, with consideration given to the clearance between the cowl and other parts.

Engine

The ARCHI Billet Honeycomb Subframe is placed on the side of the engine. With a thickness of up to 20mm, it improves frame rigidity and protects the cylinders from damage in the event of a fall. The engine mounts are also Billet Honeycomb, and the unique honeycomb pattern stands out well.

The front of the radiator core is fitted with an ARCHI Hex Core Protector (“ver. ARCHI” with the ARCHI logo on the lower right). The Billet Honeycomb Subframe and the billet honeycomb pattern design on the engine mounts are also clearly visible. The frame plugs are also by ARCHI.

Intake & Exhaust

The exhaust system with the ARCHI Silencer Emblem (also available separately) is the “Special Megaphone Exhaust Ver. LOUDEX," a megaphone-type exhaust with slash-cut end. It was a prototype at the time of the photoshoot but is now available on the market.

Chassis

The steps are ARCHI Billet Honeycomb Rearsets Kit Ver.2 (Matte Cork Black), with the bar position moved 20mm back & 20mm up compared to stock (standard position), and then the adjustable 2nd mounting plate is moved a further 30mm back & 30mm up, for a total of 50mm in both directions. Due to the installation of the ARCHI exhaust, ARCHI Billet Honeycomb Pillion Brackets (Matte Cork Black) have been added, and the pillion step bar has been moved 25mm back and 65mm up for a sleeker look.

The front brakes are equipped with ARCHI Carbon Front Caliper Cooling Ducts. The front forks are stock ø41mm inverted, and inside is an Open Cartridge Kit from YSS Suspension, a brand that is distributed by PMC in Japan. The rear is also equipped with a YSS MS456 Rear Shock Absorber. The wheels are THYSSENKRUPP Carbon Wheels Style 1 in 3.50-17/6.00-17 sizes.

The swingarm and rear brake calipers/discs are stock Z900RS. Pirelli Rosso Corsa 2 tires in 120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17 sizes are used.
