Iida Racing's GS1200SS
The owner says, "I met this GS1200SS 12 years ago and fell in love at first glance." He immediately bought it, obtained a license, and fixed up the machine, then modified it to incorporate his favorite elements into the necessary parts. "The concept is a street racer-style customization, with emphasis on volume and emissions to meet vehicle inspections," explains the owner. It has lowered handlebars, and the tail lamp area is equipped with an OEM accessory single-seat cover. Also, the front fork/stem, which was modified from a Hayabusa, certainly give the bike a racer-like impression. A closer look at the overall appearance reveals a lowered front cowl as well.
"I relocated the brackets and lowered the height by about 3cm. Originally, I had cut the windshield to reduce the overall height, but that caused turbulence, so I lowered the cowl itself." You can also see how much attention was given to the overall balance of the bike and how the details have been carefully worked on. The owner says he uses this bike for touring, commuting, and shopping. He is very careful about oil temperature and engine oil, and, of course, he places a lot of emphasis on maintenance. He says, "I do the part that I can take care of myself and leave the difficult parts to the professionals. I've been riding my GS1200SS for a long time, and I consider it to be a lifetime machine." The owner relies on the Iida Racing Factory, which he came to know soon after buying this machine. He has plans to refresh the electrical system in the future, so there seems to be no need to worry about the longevity of the machine.
Handle
The stem is set up with a steering stem for Hayabusa. Clip-on handlebars are Soup-up (discontinued), left and right masters are FRANDO radials. The mirrors are Magical Racing Racer Replica Mirror Type 5 Head. An N Project oil temperature gauge to manage oil temperature and a Daytona Aquaprova voltmeter are also added.
Bodyworks
The front cowl was modified and lowered by 3cm to create a lower silhouette. Also, many parts were modified by the owner, such as an added headlight cover and a self-made mesh for the front cowl ducts.
The owner also designed the two round taillights and endurance racer-style two-stage reflector layout, while the fender eliminator kit is made by the Iida Racing Factory. The seat is high, and the left and right edges have been lowered to allow for more freedom of leg movement.
Engine
The 1156cc oil-cooled straight-4 engine is GS1200SS stock, and a stock KTM back-pressure valve (internal pressure valve) has been added to smooth out the engine rotation. The oil catch tank is made by Iida Racing Factory.
Intake & Exhaust
The carburetor is a stock CVR32 + TPS with a GSX1400 high-flow air cleaner, set up to match the exhaust system of an Ohnishi exhaust pipe + Nojima Lock-On silencer.
Chassis
The front forks are Hayabusa stock upside down with a custom Winning Run extension kit to adjust the ride height. Front brakes are Brembo axial calipers and Sunstar Works Expand Discs.
The swingarm is a GS1200SS stock with an additional sway bar and Ohlins Blackline shocks. The rear brakes are Brembo P2-CR84 calipers and Sunstar Premium Racing Discs.
For the wheels, forged aluminum Gale Speed TYPE-R wheels in sizes 3.50-17/5.50-17 in black were selected. Tires are Bridgestone RS10 in sizes 120/70ZR17 and 180/55ZR17.
