　He is also calmly observing the rivals' progress. "Everyone is setting fast times, but we don't yet know what their average pace will be. We just need to do what we have to do," he said, exuding a quiet confidence befitting a four-time Suzuka 8 Hours champion.

　Jonathan Rea, who officially joined Honda HRC in 2026, commented on the differences between the WorldSBK and Suzuka 8 Hours specification machines: "It's difficult to compare. The tires are different, and we have fuel consumption to consider, so we can't run at full power. Because of that, this bike is very manageable."

　He also offered his unique perspective on the special nature of the Suzuka 8 Hours: "In endurance racing, each rider needs to find a compromise in the setup. This is Takumi's bike, and it's set up according to his direction."

　He understands his role, stating, "I don't need to drastically change my style, but I have to accept certain aspects. For example, I'd prefer a softer front end, but that becomes a compromise."

　Nevertheless, his trust in the bike itself is strong. "The tires make a big difference, but the feel of the bike is still CBR. The heart is Honda, and that's the biggest commonality," said Rea.

　The fact that he recorded the top time despite a short test period demonstrates his high adaptability.

　For Jonathan Rea, the Suzuka 8 Hours is a special race. Although he has stepped back from full-time WorldSBK competition, he is challenging himself in this event.

“It's a physically demanding circuit, but with this bike, it feels quite manageable.”

　Regarding his decision to take on this new challenge with Honda HRC, he stated, "I was tired of full-time racing, but I thought this new role, aiming for victory again, would be a good challenge." He also shared his impression of the Japanese fans: "Japanese fans are very warm and passionate, and I'm happy to be back here."

Zarco's Withdrawal and Replacement Strategy: Maintaining Strength Amidst Changes

　Honda HRC was originally scheduled to compete with a three-rider lineup of Takumi Takahashi, Jonathan Rea, and Johann Zarco. However, Zarco will be absent due to an injury sustained at the MotoGP Catalan Grand Prix, and Somkiat Chantra has been confirmed as his replacement.

　Despite the last-minute change, Honda HRC is confident, stating, "He can adapt sufficiently even joining from the race week." Furthermore, Chantra participated in the private test in May, so he will not be riding the Suzuka 8 Hours specification CBR1000RR-R for the first time during race week.
