Ducati Corse has officially announced that Marc Marquez will remain with the Ducati Lenovo Team for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. The partnership between Marquez, who has made a remarkable comeback since joining Ducati in 2025, and Ducati, which led to his seventh MotoGP title, will continue.
Marquez Continues His Brilliant Journey with Ducati
In the 2025 season, Marc Marquez secured the championship at the Japanese GP with victories in 14 Tissot Sprints and 11 Grand Prix races. This was recorded as one of the greatest comebacks in sports history, and he also broke the record for the most points in a single season.
The 2026 season saw a turnaround from an injury-plagued start, with consecutive wins at Brands Hatch and Brno, closing the gap to the leaders. The victory in Hungary was particularly significant, marking Ducati Lenovo Team's 100th MotoGP win and Marquez's 100th win across all classes. This event further celebrated Ducati's 100th anniversary in 2026.
Marc Marquez commented, "I am truly satisfied to be part of Ducati. I am happy to continue being a part of this family. When I decided to move to Ducati, I was convinced it was the most competitive project. They believed in me, and we built a relationship based on trust and hard work.
With this contract renewal, they respected my time and gave me the peace of mind needed to make the right decision. In the first year, we competed for the title and won it. This is an invaluable result that proves the path we chose was the right one. I love this sport and want to achieve even more ambitious goals. I am convinced this is the best place to do that. As long as I am here, I will give my all to paint the future red."
Expectations and Trust from Ducati Management
Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, stated, "The contract renewal with Marc for the 2027 and 2028 seasons was the most natural choice after the incredible results he achieved in his first season with the red colors. He brought a mentality that is even more determined and an extraordinary competitive spirit to a winning team, if that were even possible.
Marc is not only an extraordinary talent but also perfectly embodies the Ducati mentality, which is based on great dedication and sacrifice, harmony within the team, and the ability to be a great professional even in a playful and relaxed atmosphere. Continuing together means bringing continuity to a successful project and approaching the next seasons with ambition."
Luigi Dall'Igna, General Manager of Ducati Corse, said, "Trust, the relationship between Ducati and Marc, starts here. He sought us out first, and then he chose us. And today, we are happy to be planning a redder, more hopeful future together.
Marc has always prioritized passion, motivation, and a true competitive spirit in his choices, which have guided his experience with the Ducati Lenovo Team. He placed his trust in the entire team, which gives us pride and motivates us to always do our best to support him. As an engineer, working with Marc has impressed me. He has pushed the Desmosedici GP to its highest performance, extracting the maximum from every component. Our ambitions remain the same, and I am happy to live new chapters of this Ducati story with Marc, both from a sporting and personal perspective."
All eyes will be on whether Marquez can achieve a third consecutive victory at this weekend's Dutch GP.
