Who is TAICHI?

In the 1960s, when the Japanese motorcycle industry was growing at a rapid pace, more and more people were getting involved in motorcycling. At that time, a very talented young man stood out from the rest and was signed by the SUZUKI Factory Team. His name was TAICHI YOSHIMURA, the founder of RS TAICHI.

In 1971, he travelled to Europe as a representative of Japan to compete in the World Motocross Championship. The next year, he made a bold move to the HONDA Factory Team that had just gotten into motocross racing and scored them their first victory! Within five years, Taichi Yoshimura had risen from a talented youngster to a top rider at the international level.

Young hopeful turned legend

In the prime of his racing career, he decided to do something just as great as lifting the championship trophy on the podium. He founded RS TAICHI in 1975 and started a new career offering a reliable choice of motorcycle gear for all riders.

Regarding the brand name, I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't actually know what the RS stood for at first. It turns out that it means "Rider's Spot".

On opening day, Taichi Yoshimura outlined his goals for this new endeavour, saying, "I hope to use the experience I have accumulated over the years on the track, as well as past cases of riders' injuries to make a new kind of protective equipment. Whether on the road or off, I hope that we can minimize injuries caused by accidents." His attitude and philosophy were accepted and supported by riders, and RS TAICHI gradually became a top-selling brand by word of mouth among Japanese riders.
