[ZETA Sonic Handguard] Protection from wind and cold! The age of handguards for on-road bikes is here!

This time, we would like to introduce and give a review of ZETA's Sonic Handguard! When you hear the word "handguard" you are probably thinking, "Oh, that's for off-road bikes," but now there is a handguard that fits on-road bikes just right!

The name is Sonic Handguard!

This is a handguard for on-road bikes that was put on the market the year before last. It is a bit strange to see from a company like Dirt Freak, who sell a lot of off-road products. By attaching it to a special bar end, this handguard can be installed on on-road bikes that do not normally have enough room around the handlebars.

This is a product that sells well in the fall and winter when the weather gets colder, since in addition to the dress-up effect, you can get protection from the wind and cold by adding additional protectors!

It also serves the same function as a lever guard, so it's recommended for beginners who have just gotten their license!

With the special spacer, the horizontal position can be adjusted by 5 degrees per step from the center position, 4 steps up and 4 steps down, for a total of 9 positions. It can be easily adjusted to your desired styling.

By loosening the arm bolt, the angle can be seamlessly adjusted up and down around the bar ends.

What are the different types?

The following three types can be selected according to the bar-end type of your bike.

Universal Type
For steel handlebars (inner diameter 17.5mm to 18.5mm) and aluminum handlebars (inner diameter 13.5mm to 14.5mm)
Can be installed on handlebars that are hollow after removing the bar-end plugs.

M16/M8 Type
Compatible with M16 or M8 handlebar ends

[YAMAHA models]Can be installed on handlebars with M16 handlebar ends modified to 1.5mm pitch.

[KAWASAKI models]Can be installed on handlebars with M8 nut welded to the handlebar end.

[Example models]MT-07, XSR700, MT-09 ('14-20), XSR900, Z250, Z400, Z1000

M6 Type
Compatible with M6 handlebar ends

[HONDA / HUSQVARNA models]Can be installed on handlebars with M6 nuts welded to the handlebar end.
*Cannot be installed on the type of bar end in which the nut moves, which is used on some Honda models, even if the bar end is an M6 type.

[Example models]MONKEY125, GROM, REBEL1100, SVARTPILEN 401 ('20-), VITPILEN 401 ('20-), SVARTPILEN 125 ('21-), SVARTPILEN 250 ('21-)

These three types are available as the base. PC kits with optional polycarbonate protectors are also available.

Installation!

We installed the handguards on a staff member's MT-09, which was in the employee garage getting a full exhaust equipped.

First, after removing the stock bar ends, replace them with the bar ends included in the kit, which are M6 type for the MT-09.

After replacing the bar ends with the ones included in the kit, attach the arms. The angle can be adjusted at the end, so just make sure it is tight enough not to move.

Once the knuckle guard is attached to the arm, the simplest form is complete! The time required up to this point was 10 minutes. It's that easy!

The polycarbonate protector can be attached as shown above. Since it is fastened with two bolts, you can quickly change it according to your mood or the season.

We chose a smoke color for the polycarbonate protectors, so it matches perfectly with the aftermarket windshield that was already installed on the bike!
