CANDY Motorcycle Laboratory's SR400
CANDY Motorcycle Laboratory has presented various SR400 customs such as bobbers, choppers, and cafe racers, regardless of genre. The most attractive point is their "creativity" that produces a completely new style. Their ideas and high quality have constantly garnered significant attention as they greatly expand the possibilities of customization. And the bike introduced this time is also an impressive machine with a short tail.
With its 'too-short' tail, complex handling of the exhaust, blocky tires, and LED headlights, it is characterized by styling that breaks the existing genre. The concept, according to builder Mr. Nakamura, was to 'incorporate the BMW customization that is popular on Instagram into the SR.' While it does have the feel of a recent neo-cafe racer, this SR is a completely different machine from those other models. In contrast to BMW Custom, where the more compact the chassis, the more the presence of the engine stands out, a single-cylinder engine cannot rely so heavily on that. Therefore, if the body is made extremely compact, the balance is immediately thrown off. However, in this case, the balance is maintained right at the very edge. It functions as a 'motorcycle.' If you think you can replicate this machine, do not assume you can customize it with D.I.Y. This machine involves many techniques, such as detailed dimensioning and processing, that there is not enough room to describe here. These techniques create this balance.
Handle
For the handlebar, not only the post, but the lever holders are also integrated. Of course, it is custom-made by CANDY Motorcycle Laboratory.
Electrical
5.75 Bates-type headlights with embedded LED projectors. Creating a futuristic image.
Bodyworks
The fuel tank is also a one-off production. The letters "CML" on the side of the tank stand for "CANDY Motorcycle Laboratory."
Extremely short tail area. The tail lamp is embedded in the loop end.
Engine
The exhaust pipe shows a complicated routing, passing under the seat rail from the left side. The engine incorporates CANDY's original pistons and Yoshimura ST-2 Camshafts, greatly increasing performance.
Intake & Exhaust
The megaphone-type silencer is also a one-off. The length matched to the frame contributes to the superb silhouette of the machine.
Chassis
The Dunlop K950s are mounted on EXCEL rims, creating a rough and rugged vibe.
The swingarm remains stock, and the rear suspension is Ohlins.
