Honda will release the CBR400R E-Clutch, a new specification of its mid-sport model CBR400R. The CBR400R E-Clutch will be priced between 999,900 yen and 1,089,000 yen, and 500 units are planned for release on May 21 (Thursday). The CBR400R E-Clutch will be priced between 99,900 and 1,089,000 yen.

Duct Wing Adopted Midsport Becomes Even Easier to Handle

The CBR400R, released in 2013, is a full-cowl road sport equipped with a 399cc liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder DOHC engine that is also shared with the NX400. In 2022, it will be equipped with inverted forks and a radial-mount caliper on the front brake, and in 2013, it will be fitted with a new radial-mount caliper on the rear brake. In 2024, the entire fairing underwent a major redesign, with a ducted wing reminiscent of the CBR1000RR-R. In terms of features, selectable torque control, a 5-inch TFT day display, Honda RoadSync compatibility, and a host of other comfort equipment helped to establish it as a mid-sport machine.

The CBR400R has undergone a major evolution for the 2026 model year. The E-Clutch electronically controls the clutch operation for smooth shifting and half-clutching, making it easier for beginners to operate the clutch and easier for experienced riders. Starting with the CBR650R and CB650R, the number of models using the E-Clutch has been gradually increasing, such as the Rebel 250 and CL250. However, the CBR400R E-Clutch and NX400 E-Clutch are the first models in the 400cc class to adopt the system.

The new CBR400R comes in two color variations, Grand Prix Red and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic, and is priced at 1,089,000 yen for the Grand Prix Red and 999,900 yen for the Black Metallic. The sales volume is expected to be 500 units, and the model will go on sale on May 21 (Thursday). The regular version of the 2026 model has not been announced, and is expected to be a single E-Clutch version.
