Yamaha Motor Sales will begin rolling out four 2027 models from its “YZ Series” of cross-country competition bikes starting September 25. Among them, the “YZ450FX” delivers a safe, comfortable, and controllable riding experience thanks to its refined, custom tuning.
The “YZ450FX” has evolved with dedicated tuning, balancing ease of handling with high power output
The key feature of the 2027 “YZ450FX” is that, while based on the 2026 “YZ450F,” it has been specifically tuned as a cross-country model.By harmonizing seemingly conflicting elements—such as an engine that balances ease of handling with high power output and a body that combines comfort with high rigidity—at a high level, the result is a model with exceptional versatility.
The main changes are to the 449 cm³ engine, where adjustments to the camshaft phasing angle and the ACM rotor have improved handling and reduced stalling. Additionally, the hydraulic clutch—which reduces lever effort by 15%—makes fine adjustments easier at low speeds, thereby reducing rider fatigue.Furthermore, the shape and wall thickness of the engine mounting brackets have been modified and tuned to deliver optimal chassis rigidity in the low- to mid-speed range.
The front and rear suspension have been set up specifically for the domestic market, improving responsiveness from the initial to the mid-range. This achieves a balance between a comfortable ride during off-road riding and stability at high speeds. The rear brake system balances weight reduction with improved control, contributing to better off-road performance. The standard tires feature a new profile design to enhance traction, while also achieving a total weight reduction of 600g between the front and rear.
The vibrant Racing Blue color scheme and pre-order period
The 2027 YZ series features a vibrant Racing Blue base color and graphics that convey a sense of speed. This color scheme emphasizes the YZ family’s distinctive identity. The bright model logo, primarily in white, accentuates the aggressive and youthful style.Sales will be available for a limited time from June 18 to November 29, 2026, at “Authorized Yamaha Off-Road Competition Model Dealers.” If pre-orders exceed production capacity, the pre-order period may end early, so those considering a purchase are advised to place their orders as soon as possible.
