The "CL250," released by HONDA in 2023, is a scrambler model that revives the lineage of the legendary CL series with modern technology. While based on the same frame and engine as the Rebel 250, it establishes a style that can be ridden lightly on paved roads and flat dirt tracks with its upright riding position, distinctive upswept muffler, and semi-block tires. Its simple and approachable appearance holds great potential as a custom base, attracting attention from many riders.

Nisshi Izu, the owner featured today, chose the CL250 because they wanted something unique and "not to be seen with others," while also seeking the peace of mind that comes with a current model. It seems to have been a fated encounter, finding a nearly new bike with the 2023 model's pearl color, genuine optional knuckle guards, and more. The deep affection for their "CL-chan," as they affectionately call it, conveys its role as a partner they enjoy every day.

Reasons for Purchase, Usage, and Comparison Models

I arrived at this bike with the desire not to be seen with the same one as others. Initially, I was considering bikes that could be enjoyed for play, like the Rebel 250, DragStar, TW, and FTR, all in the 250cc class. I chose it because it's a bit niche, less common, a current model, and equipped with abundant safety features. I knew the new model (E-clutch) was coming out, but I deliberately went for the previous model, the 2023 version, because of its unique pearl color. I jumped on it when I found a nearly new one with genuine optional knuckle guards and a cigar, plus an aftermarket carrier already installed.

Strengths

Although it weighs just under 190 kg, it's easier to ride than I expected. I can even lean into corners a bit. Above all, the scrambler style is just right for me. I love the design.

Weaknesses

The footpeg position doesn't always feel right. I sometimes wish it had a center stand.

Advice for Potential Buyers

I've only ridden it for 10,000 kilometers in a year, so I haven't experienced any significant breakdowns.

Future Customization Plans

I want to add a touring visor, change the grips, switch to custom handlebars, and eventually get some pinstriping.
