This spring at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show, MORIWAKI revealed the return of the legendary FORESIGHT exhaust, sparking major buzz. Now, it’s finally official. With limited production and even a new members-only website, this exhaust is set to include a number of premium touches.

The MORIWAKI FORESIGHT is a legendary exhaust that took the 1980s by storm. Its most distinctive feature is the aluminum silencer with T-shaped fins. While these fins are designed with theories of heat dissipation and noise reduction in mind, the truly unique shape was born from the passion of MORIWAKI’s founder and current honorary chairman, Mamoru Moriwaki, who wanted to create a “cool exhaust unlike any other, one of a kind.”

At the 2025 Tokyo Motorcycle Show, the return of the FORESIGHT was announced, and a Yamaha XSR900 GP fitted with the prototype exhaust drew a lot of attention. Now, it has been officially unveiled under its production name, the XSR900 GP FORESIGHT Full Exhaust.

■The unique aluminum silencer has been fully recreated. Even the emblem has been newly produced using the same design as in the past.

■And of course, those T-shaped fins! They are formed through aluminum extrusion and then precision-machined into the final product.

■The rear view when mounted looks perfect, recalling the legendary racing machine “ZERO-X7.”

Detailed specs will come later, but the new FORESIGHT is positioned as a high-end product. The first release is for the Yamaha XSR900 GP, with limited production and individual serial numbers (exact quantity to be announced). The packaging will also have a special FORESIGHT design. In addition, buyers will gain access to a members-only site called “CLUB FORESIGHT.” By registering, owners receive a titanium warranty card and access to special events and other benefits.

As far as we know, this is the first time a membership club has been created around an exhaust. It’s an interesting attempt to raise owner satisfaction, and MORIWAKI fans will no doubt be intrigued. Since the exhaust itself is limited production, lucky XSR-GP owners won’t have much time to hesitate!

Compatible with 2024 and later Yamaha XSR900 GP (RN96J). The aluminum silencer is a newly designed piece, created from completely new molds, with the distinctive T-shaped fins fully reproduced. Like the original, it uses heat-resistant black paint, with the fin surfaces finished in bare aluminum.

The 3-into-1 exhaust pipes are stainless steel with heat-resistant black paint. A catalyst and sub-silencer are placed just after the collector. Silencer brackets are precision-machined aluminum for a higher-quality feel. Fully road-legal (in Japan), having passed emission tests, and allows oil/filter changes without removing the exhaust.

MORIWAKI says they plan to expand FORESIGHT to bikes beyond the XSR900 GP. However, they won’t release a wide lineup—only select models, each limited in production just like the XSR-GP version. That makes it certain FORESIGHT will remain a premium exhaust.

■Installed on a Yamaha stock Marlboro color scheme. This would’ve been unthinkable back in the 1980s, but it surprisingly works today?!

■A perfect fit for bikes like the XSR-GP with an ’80s-inspired look.

■The first bike to wear the FORESIGHT was the “ZERO-X7,” a Moriwaki aluminum-framed racer powered by a Honda CBX750F engine. Choosing the XSR900 GP as the first revival model reflects how well its look projects the image of the X7.

■Back in the ’80s, FORESIGHT was available not only for four-cylinders like the CBR400F and GPZ400F, but also for two-cylinders like the VT250F and two-strokes like the RZ250R. It was loved by a wide range of riders.
