This small damper transforms your Ducati! Clearer engine pulse and more flexible chassis! (Part 1)

AELLA (along with ACTIVE) are working to develop Performance Dampers for Ducati models. When I heard about this, I decided that as a Ducati enthusiast I had to try them out, so I headed to Kyoto, where AELLA is headquartered. This time, we tested the Monster, Multistrada V4S, Diavel V4, and Scrambler Full Throttle. The beauty of each engine, whether air-cooled twin, water-cooled twin, or V4, has been brought out even more and the ride quality has improved. These are a must-try for the Ducatista who loves touring!

It was a bit of a strange feeling. I rode and compared various Ducati models installing and uninstalling the Performance Damper several times. In the end, it was clear that the ride was better with the Performance Damper installed. The Ducati engine became higher quality and the ride feel was more flexible. The impression of each bike completely changed. It's not that I have anything against the stock bikes. Honestly, I love them. It is just that with the Performance Damper there is an exquisite improvement.

Mr. Wada and Mr. Ametani of AELLA accompanied me, and I asked them several times before the test ride if there really was any effect using a Performance Damper on a Ducati. They just grinned and replied, "You'll see," and after the test ride I understood the meaning behind those grins. We asked them to put on and take off the Performance Dampers several times, and I compared the Monster, Multistrada V4S, Diavel V4, and Scrambler. It was interesting to see how the effect is slightly different depending on the bike.

This Performance Damper developed by Yamaha is a part that absorbs vibrations from the bike and converts them into heat energy that dissipates. Of course, a lineup for Yamaha models is available from Y'S GEAR, and I have tested them out on various bikes, starting with the SR400. Recently, ACTIVE has also done research & development, including into the position of the bracket, material, type of damper, etc., and have produced versions for non-Yamaha models. I have also felt their effect on the Kawasaki W800 and Honda GB350S. And now for Ducati models, ACTIVE and AELLA have begun joint development.

The benefits are the same for all bike models. When the bike is ridden without it, it of course rides just like usual, but when the Performance Damper is installed, the engine vibration becomes milder and it feels like the bike has a higher quality overall. In particular, bikes with less costly suspensions seem to give off an even stronger sense of stability.
