A Legendary Motocross Champion

He was looking forward to starting elementary school, but was diagnosed with childhood tuberculosis and missed half a year. When he was eight years old, he was given a ride on his older brother's 80cc Tohatsu motorcycle, and that was the start of his journey into motorsports.

His name is Tadao Suzuki, former Yamaha team rider and motocross champion. On top of that, as the representative of the SP Tadao Racing Team, he has trained many top riders, including All Japan Road Race champions and WGP (Road Race World Championship) riders.

As the MFJ's best rider, he went on an expedition to Europe in 1970. He raced in an international race in the Netherlands and became the first Japanese rider to win it. In a test in Belgium, he injured his wrist and then crashed in Bristol, breaking his neck in the process. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and told he would need to have surgery, but ended up getting out and returning to Japan in just one month.

It all started with a hobby

If you have read the other articles in our "Brands" category, you may remember that the founders of many brands are often also great riders. But Tadao's story is a little different.

His family had a lathe shop, and he had been helping out in the family business for a long time. When he got married, his wife's family owned a coffee shop that they were planning to tear down because they didn't have anyone to take it over. Tadao decided to start a motorcycle shop there instead. He said "Of course, I like motorcycles, but I think riding them was more of a natural part of my life than something that got me interested in developing parts. My family had a machine shop, so I could make any motorcycle part I wanted."

SP Tadao's POWERBOX FULL is an exhaust system that replaces the entire exhaust. By combining the highly efficient silencer with the pulsating effect of the sub-chamber it allows for a wider range of ideal output characteristics and power increase.

POWERBOX Slip-on

This is an exhaust system where only the silencer part is replaced. By actively utilizing the pulsating effect of the sub-chamber, it is possible to increase the power from the practical range, which could not be achieved with the conventional short silencer.
