Webike's Opinion
Here is a "HONDA VFR1200X Crosstourer" custom by Webike community user "JOKER in the country". This 2012 VFR1200X Crosstourer arrived at its new home on March 8. Though it hasn't been with the owner for long, the customization process is already well underway. Since the bike was purchased for camping tours, a set of side cases, essential for carrying large amounts of gear, was one of the first additions. The owner opted for silver GIVI Trekker Alaska Side Cases, which blend seamlessly with the bike, just like HONDA genuine side cases, both in terms of fit and finish. He’s particularly pleased with their quality and appearance, though he admits the silver surface tends to pick up fingerprints easily.
Another recent customization, which the owner refers to as a "touch-up," is the repainting of the cowl. Using pearlescent cyan/purple and silver/green paint, the finish shifts in color depending on the angle and lighting. To complement this aurora-like effect, rainbow-colored MDF Rim Stickers were applied to the wheels, and TITANIUM64 License Plate Bolts were subtly added for a refined touch. Other upgrades include custom-cut universal StompGrip pads for better knee grip, PROGRIP vibration-dampening gel grips, and a navigation system mount. Front and rear dash cams have also been installed, ensuring the bike is fully prepped for touring.
The owner had high expectations for the DELKEVIC Slip-On Exhaust, appreciating its significantly lighter weight compared to the stock unit. However, he found the sound louder than expected and noticed a slight exhaust odor, leading him to stick with the stock exhaust for everyday use.
Comfort was another key focus, especially for long-distance rides. Immediately after purchasing the bike, he took the seat to a professional upholstery shop for an upgrade. The seat cover was replaced with black dimpled fabric accented by red stitching, while the interior was modified with some foam shaved down and the addition of low-rebound material along with EFFEX GEL-ZAB for enhanced comfort. He also had the tank-side section slimmed down slightly, improving footing—an important factor given the bike’s tall seat height and considerable weight. This subtle adjustment not only improves comfort but also adds a welcome boost in safety.
