The Doremi Collection, which has produced a number of high-profile models, has once again come up with a new complete kit for 2026, this time an exterior kit to convert a Honda Monkey 125 into a Kawasaki Z-spec model. In 2026, Doremi Collection has created two kits at once: a Z1/Z2 spec (hereafter Z2 spec) and a Z750FX1/Z1000Mk2 spec (hereafter Mk2 spec). The key to being able to display both the Z2 and Mk2 specifications at the show at the same time was the fact that they each had their own prototype designer. Doremi Collection decided on the major direction of the vehicles and then supplied parts for each model. The prototype for this project was based on the Zephyr 750 exterior set, and the prototype designers for both the Z2 and Mk2 specifications used these materials to create the Monkey 125, resulting in the completion of two prototypes. Another new feature is the use of different paint schemes for the left and right sides of the bike: the Z2 version is painted fireballs on the right side and yellow balls on the left side, while the Mk2 version is painted luminous dark blue on the right side and luminous dark red on the left side. By changing the coloring on the left and right sides, we propose a display method that shows two different attractions in one unit. Doremi embarked on the development of this Monkey 125 because, starting in April 2025, the license system will be revised to allow vehicles under 125 cc with an output of 5.4 hp or less and recognized as new standard mopeds to be ridden with a moped license. This development was made in anticipation of the so-called new moped trend. The new mopeds will be 125 cc or less, 5.4 hp or less, one-seater, with a centrifugal clutch and limiter. If such a bike is created, not only beginners and return riders, but also those who have only ridden passenger cars will be able to easily experience the appeal of motorcycles. I think this vehicle could be a new entry point for such people," says Takayuki Fujino of the Doremi Collection Tokyo Sales Office, the person in charge of this project. Since around 1990, there have been customizations of the 50cc version of the Monkey, such as the Z2-style tail cowl and the square Z upper cowl. However, the Doremi Collection has never ventured into that realm. This is because they had imposed the rule of "Kawasaki body with Kawasaki exterior. Since around 2001, Dremi itself has been selling a Mini-Ninja kit that turns a KSR110 or Z125PRO into a GPZ900R-spec machine, but it had drawn a line in the sand with regard to the Monkey series. However, Dremi's Mininja exteriors are now being installed on other manufacturers' bodies, such as Ape and XR, by users.
