The trouble of being a classic biker

From just one O-ring to iron mono parts, obtaining discontinued parts is troublesome for classic motorcycle owners. If you happen to live outside of Japan and ride a Japanese motorcycle this might be giving you even more headaches.

They've got your back

M-TEC Chukyo (MRS) creates many products, from those manufactured by reviving methods used in the past, to those that have been improved and developed for more modern use while maintaining the stock appearance. We highly recommend them for riders who are concerned about quality and stock style.

The best quality control

M-TEC Chukyo is an ISO 9001 certified parts manufacturer. This is made possible because of their desire to deliver high quality products that can be used with peace of mind to all riders around the world. At first glance, you may not notice a difference between products that are ISO certified and those that are not, but it will become apparent as you continue to use that product for a long period of time. The reason for this is that even in areas that cannot readily be seen, no effort is spared in the manufacturing process. In other words, the defect rate of the products that are shipped out should be close to zero.

■Inspecting spokes: they check for unevenness in color, count the number of spokes and nipples, and check if the nipples and spokes can be attached.

Recreating classic vibes

M-TEC focuses on the feel and style of the classics, and while recreating it, they have incorporated modern manufacturing methods to create high quality products.

Here is a quad pipe exhaust from M-TEC, a faithful reproduction of the stock pipes even though they have a complex design. M-TEC's craftsmanship is evident everywhere; in the pressed parts, clearance, shape of the ends, pillion steps and exhaust protector. They bring the classic shape to life.

Exhausts

One of the strengths of M-TEC Chukyo is their ability to bring out a classic feel through old-fashioned methods. The image above shows an exhaust merge collector being "gas welded". Unlike ordinary electric welding, the unique weld marks look great on older models. After the welding is complete, all parts are inspected thoroughly to make sure there are no exhaust leaks.

They also offer one-off parts made by skilled craftsmen. The above image shows the hand bending of a stainless steel exhaust pipe. To prevent wrinkles from forming at the bend, the inside of the pipe is filled with sand and then heated with a torch until it turns red before being bent into shape.

Fuel Tanks

The below image is a CB750K tank that is compatible with the CB750 Four K0-K6. It retains the form of the HONDA CB750 Four K0 fuel tank while being designed for use with models from K0 to K6.

The material is steel, with shield welding specifications. Both pressure resistance test (2.5kg/cm2) and water pressure test (0.5kg/cm2) have been cleared. The wall thickness has been changed from 0.8mm to 1.0mm to ensure safety.

The underside of the tank is pressed a little deeper to prevent the carb piston bolt from coming in contact with the bottom of the tank when the throttle is fully open on K1 and later models. Even with a dual-pull throttle cable configuration, the fan-shaped throttle plate is designed not to come in contact with the inside of the tank. The cap part is made to K4 specifications, so that a cap with a key can be installed. Also, it does not interfere with the cylinder head and allows the fuel cock to move smoothly.

Exterior Sets

If you ride a KAWASAKI Z1/Z2 or a HONDA CB750 FOUR (CB750K) then you are in luck!

In order to recreate the stock exterior color of these bikes when they were sold brand new, M-TEC meticulously checked many different types of paint with people who knew the original bikes in order to get the true colors.

Seats

M-TEC offers three types of seats for the KAWASAKI Z1/Z2. The seat base is made of steel, and they come with belts, hinges and latches. The unevenness that accentuates the surface of the seat is not made with just the upholstery alone, but with the urethane padding inside as well. The seat base faithfully reproduces the original tail end shape.

■Standard type with a flat seat surface

■With padding shaved for the rider side only

■With padding shaved for both rider and pillion
