MOTORCYCLE SHOP NEN's CBR650F

It looks like a beautiful Honda CBR400F to those who know the motorcycle boom of the 1980s. Or, for those who don't know about those days, this is a bike that makes people think of a newer model with a cohesive appearance. It is the Honda CBR650F.

The model name on the side cover is the owner's playful idea. The base model is a modern 4-cylinder CBR, and this is a custom bike with the former CBR400F style. The name on the side cover represents the character of this bike in the same position and font as the CBR400F. The frame, engine, and 17-inch front and rear wheel are all stock for the CBR650F. Yet, the front face, fuel tank, tail cowl, and the seat are all fitted to the '80s CBR400F without any sense of incongruity. A mesh panel (made by himself) was inserted under the frame to avoid the strange gap between the tank and the frame. He used a meter case for VTR (250) which he found almost same as CBR400F. The dummy oil cooler is installed under the square light which is one of the main features of CBR400F. The front and rear 17 inch wheels look like CBR400F's 16/18 inch wheels, and now the detailed power system is set up with Buzzard's performance chip. But still, this bike is so perfect.

Electrical

The square headlight and the dummy oil cooler placed under it use parts from 1984 - CBR400F itself. The CBR400F headlight bracket is a CBR400F, which is mounted on a CBR650F frame with additional work.

Handle

The meter case is VTR, with Daytona all-in-one assembly in the speedometer section. The light brackets/frame are originally silver, but this bike has a black finish.

Engine

The fuel tank is additionally modified for fuel injection (CBR400F with carburetor, CBR650F with FI fuel supply), but the appearance and fuel cock lever are as it is on the CBR400F.

The engine and FI system are stock for a CBR650F. Due to space limitations, an air cleaner box could not be installed, so a Buzzard sub-computer was used to correct the fuel mixture.

Bodyworks

The side covers and tail cowl are both CBR400F, and the double-type seat is also CBR400F. The front and rear blinkers are placed at almost the same position on the CBR400F, but slightly smaller.

The side ducts above the cylinder head also create the CBR400F look, but also serve to cover the wiring. The frame is a stock CBR650F, the seat rail is modified, and the CBR400F logo is placed on the stock 650F under cowl. The logo on the side cover also represents the CBR650F in CBR400F style.

Intake & Exhaust

The exhaust system is NEN's original titanium S/O. The frame is a steel pipe diamond type, but it does not look different from the double cradle CBR400F.

Chassis

The step, which is positioned a little rearward, is made of an aftermarket component. This bike looks like a CBR400F, but it is a modern version of the CBR400F.

The Φ41mm forks, 3.50-17/5.50-17 size front and rear wheels, and tapered swingarms are all stock for the CBR650F.

The CBR400F, which served as a motif, has Φ35mm size front forks + square swingarm and 16/18 star-shaped Comstar wheels in the front and rear, but this bike is amazing in that it looks like the one used on CBR400F even though they are not the same shape. The tires are the CBR650F standard Dunlop D222 with 120/70ZR17 front and 180/55ZR17 rear.
