At the YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW 2025 held on December 7, there was one vehicle that stood out from the crowd and showed a definite presence. It was a Super Cub, but with a silhouette that was clearly different from the "Cub" that everyone knows. This time, we would like to introduce the "Goose Cub," a custom Super Cub C50 born from the idea of a digger style and beach drag racer. (Featured Image by @Satoshi Yano)

What is the Super Cub C50?
The Honda Super Cub C50 is one of Japan's most popular small-displacement motorcycles. With its high durability and practicality, it has been used for many years for everyday purposes such as commuting to work and making deliveries, as well as as as a base for customization. The greatest appeal of the C50 is that it is open to any model regardless of its age or specifications. However, the C50 introduced here easily surpasses the image of the Super Cub C50.
.The Goose Cub started with a single frame
Goosenecked frame and softail construction. The "Goose Cub" had a low and long silhouette with unusually large-diameter tires (19 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear) for a two-moped vehicle. While the Super Cub was its starting point, the Goose Cub was a digger-style machine with a strong Bonneville, Sand Flats, and Beach Drag Racer vibe. This machine is the work of the owner, Mr. Nanakon. In addition to the Goose Cub, he owns a cafe racer Sportster, a VMX-style Cub & Ape, a wild Yamaha Bronco, and other bikes of different genres. Although at first glance these bikes may seem disparate, what they all have in common is a consistent stance of "taking an image of what I think is cool and putting it into a form that actually runs. The Goose Cub is not based on a finished vehicle. The starting point for this project was a "Cub frame only" that was lying around in Garage Taka's yard. From there, frame elements and swing arms from other vehicles were combined to build the entire machine. In other words, this machine is not a "customized Super Cub," but an original machine reconstructed with the Super Cub as its starting point. From here, we will explain how Mr. Nanakon created this machine. Instagram "Nanakon-san " https://www.instagram.com/nanakon7

The Super Cub we are introducing here is... the low and long "Goose Cub" that drew a lot of attention at the YOKOHAMA HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW
How did the project come about?
It all started when I was approached by Garage Taka." Garage Taka asked me, "One of our customers, Kenta-kun, is going to participate in a custom show with his 250TR rigid chopper. This was the direct trigger for the project. In fact, Mr. Nanakon had the idea of "doing a gooseneck and softail on a Super Cub" for quite some time. I bought a swing arm on Yahoo! Auctions, and it fit better than I had imagined," he said. I thought, 'I can make this into a proper shape,' and from there, the production progressed at once." The concept of the Goose Cub is "It would be cool to ride a bike like this.
The concept of the Goose Cub is very simple. It started with the image of how cool it would be to ride a bike like this through Bonneville and the Sand Flats." A drag machine that would run in a straight line across the dry land. This world view is expressed in the unexpected material of the Super Cub. At first, he thought, "There is no way I will ever actually ride a bike like that. However, this fantasy unexpectedly became a reality.
December 8, "Hell Fun! Actual driving experience at
The day after the Goose Cub Show...Goose Cub was to run on dry land! on December 8." I have run in similar situations in "Have Fun! Flat Track" and "Hell On Wheels" joint event. Since the event was held the day after the HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW, we initially planned to just observe the event, but our spirits were lifted after witnessing the short drag run. When I practiced a quick start in the parking lot, I felt that I could drive better than I had expected. He said that the clutch operation was by no means easy due to the unique control system of a centrifugal clutch and hand shift. To be honest, I couldn't connect the clutch very well (laughs). But it looked like I wouldn't fall over, so I decided to join the race on short notice." He also expressed his gratitude to those who participated in the race with him. I am very grateful to all the people who rode with me," he said. Especially those with larger displacement bikes, I apologize ...... for having to run with such a bike (laughs)."

Hell Fun! not only ran a trial run, but also participated in a race in a hurry!

Illustration, another form of expression
At the HOT ROD CUSTOM SHOW, in conjunction with the vehicle display, the illustrator "Surakusu" was asked to create an illustration of the Goose Cub. To be honest, I wasn't sure if the anime-style illustrations would be accepted at the Chopper Show, a place where many handsome older men gather... Mr. Nanakon himself was quite apprehensive. However, his fears were completely unfounded. The postcards distributed free of charge at the event were sold out! The hard, rugged appearance of the actual car and the soft, pop-like illustration. At first glance, these two expressions may seem at odds with each other, but both were born from the same idea of the "Goose Cub. In both the bike and the illustrations, "We don't fit into any molds, we just show what we think is interesting. This attitude was conveyed directly to the visitors. A car born from the image of driving
The other day, after the interview, I had a chance to run with Nanakon's Goose Cub. After running side by side with the Goose Cub, I was struck once again by its "low profile. It is not about the speed. Even when waiting at a traffic light or just flowing through a section, the Goosecab was lower than anyone else in sight, and it looked exceptionally cool. It is the feeling that "the way it is running itself is the finished product," which cannot be fully conveyed by photos or displays. Riding alongside the Goose Cub made me strongly feel that this bike was "one that was born from the image of being driven. The Goose Cub is not just a custom Super Cub. Its story, which began with a single frame, is still running on the road. Instagram "Single Cylinder for Everyone" https://www.instagram.com/minnano_tankito

Not just a show bike, but "one born from the image of running." The Goose Cub is not just a show bike, but one that was "born from the image of being driven!
